Permian Basin Oilfield Insurance

Midland, Odessa & Every Lease in Between

Insurance for Permian Basin Contractors

The Permian moves fast, and so do the insurance requirements that come with it. Operators want the right limits, the right endorsements and a clean certificate before your crew or truck rolls onto location. Lambert Insurance Agency helps oilfield contractors in Midland, Odessa and across the basin get there without the runaround.

We're an independent agency based in Abernathy, a couple of hours up the road, and we bring 15 years of hands-on oil and gas experience to every policy. Because we're independent, we shop oilfield specialists like BITCO, Travelers Oil & Gas, Berkley Oil & Gas, Liberty Mutual and The Hartford instead of forcing your operation into one company's box.

What Operators Usually Require Before You Get on Location

Every operator's MSA is different, but most ask contractors to carry some version of the list below. Miss one line and you can get held off a job until your certificate is fixed.

General liability, often $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate
Commercial auto, often $1M combined single limit
Workers' comp with employer's liability
Umbrella / excess liability, often $1M to $5M or more
Additional insured status for the operator
Waiver of subrogation
Primary and non-contributory wording
Pollution liability for hauling and well-site work

Send us your MSA before you sign it. We'll read the insurance section, tell you exactly what it asks for, and quote coverage that matches, so the certificate is right the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Midland or Odessa agent to insure my oilfield company?

No. Oilfield insurance is written on your operations and your contracts, not on where your agent's office is. We handle quotes, policy changes and certificates of insurance by phone, text and email, so a contractor in Midland or Odessa gets the same service as one down the street from our Abernathy office.

What do Permian Basin operators usually require from contractors?

Most MSAs ask for general liability, commercial auto, workers' comp with employer's liability, and an umbrella, plus additional insured status, a waiver of subrogation and primary and non-contributory wording. Limits vary by operator. Send us the MSA and we'll tell you exactly what it requires.

Can you insure a new company just getting started in the Permian?

Yes. New ventures are common in the oilfield, and several specialist carriers will write a startup with the right experience behind it. Expect questions about your years in the industry, your equipment and the work you plan to do.

Which parts of the Permian do you cover?

All of it on the Texas side, including Midland, Odessa, Andrews, Big Spring, Monahans, Pecos, Kermit, Stanton, Seminole and the surrounding counties. We're licensed in Texas.

How do I get a certificate of insurance for a new job?

Call or email us with the operator's name and their certificate requirements. We issue certificates of insurance directly so you aren't waiting on a carrier to get on location.
